World Oceans Day reminds everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. They are the lungs of our planet and a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop the worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans.

Mridul M Mahesh is a renowned speaker, quiz host, and columnist. He has hosted various quizzes for schools, colleges, and open audiences, including Asianet WHIZ KID Season 2, Quizeta 2023, and Pravega at IISc Bangalore. Mridul has also worked on projects like Wikibhumi, a weekly quiz column for Balabhumi, and has conducted workshops on gamification and infotainment for educational institutions and organizations

Introducing the Speaker
Assistant Professor and Head at the Department of Chemical Oceanography, School of Marine Sciences, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), is a renowned expert in marine sciences with a strong academic background and extensive research experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences and M.Sc. in Hydrochemistry from CUSAT, and his research focuses on marine biogeochemistry, marine pollution, ocean color remote sensing, and marine natural products. With a total impact factor of 51.82, 158 total citations, and an h-index of 7, Dr. Shaju has made significant contributions to the field and has received prestigious awards such as the NF-POGO Fellowship Award and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Research Fellowship Award.
REGISTRATION & PARTICIPATION
The quiz competition is conducted at the collegiate level. UG/PG/PhD students can participate.
Participants have to register through the registration form on or before 05 June 2024.
Only team entries are allowed, and the team shall consist of two persons.
A maximum of three teams from a department will be accepted. Registration fee is Rs. 200 per person (Lunch and refreshments included) and a relaxation of 75/- is applicable for AFG members. They have to produce their AFG member ID card during the registration and verification procedures.
Replacement of any participant of a team is not allowed after registration.
