About the Speaker
Dr. Abhilash Sasidharan has more than 17 years of experience in the field of Fish Processing Technology. He is currently pursuing his Postdoctoral research at the Department of Biotechnology & Food Science, Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. He is also serving as Assistant Professor, Department of Fish Processing Technology, KUFOS, Kochi. He did his Post Graduation in Industrial Fisheries from CUSAT in 2003 and PhD under the Faculty of Marine Sciences, CUSAT in 2014. His PhD thesis focused on seafood side stream management and valorization aspects. He is also recipient of the Young Scientist Fellowship of Department of Science & Technology in 2007 and was successful in developing a foliar fertilizer from seafood side stream which later resulted in developing a Startup called Green Allies Organics Pvt. Limited in 2012. He also worked as the State Coordinator & Thematic Expert of the Reliance Foundation Information Services, the CSR wing of the Reliance Industries Ltd., Research Associate, ZTMC-BPD, CIFT and as Senior Research Fellow in various R&D Projects in CIFT. He has about 34 peer-reviewed national and international publications, 4 book chapters and several seminar proceedings to his credit. He has also patented technology for extraction of Taurine from fish head. His fields of interest are, seafood waste management and valorization, seafood product and by-product technology, seafood packaging, thermal processing etc. He is an excellent orator and has conducted several training programs and invited talks on various aspects of fish processing and seafood entrepreneurship topics for students and stakeholders. His involvement with the fisheries sector and expertise in handling various academic and industrial positions make him the best choice for the Career Guidance Session organized by AFG.
